The Track
The Instrumental
100 Years is the seventh track on my mixtape Some Thoughts of Mine. The track takes you on a journey through the perspective of a 100-year-old man, looking at his physical body and realizing that he is, in fact, old. He starts reflecting on his life, the memories he made, and the experiences he went through, eventually realizing that luck finds its value through hardship.
Suddenly, the journey takes a drastic turn. He is admitted to the hospital, thinking that his life may be coming to an end and slowly beginning to accept his fate. But then, he starts clinging to life, still wanting to stay and not leave this place, only to realize that God has other plans for him.
The outro is told from his own perspective as he writes his testament, coming to terms with the fact that he is still in a fragile stage of his life — and that, in the end, he has not yet reached his end.
Production
The first beat consisted of only the Give Up Your Guns sample and the drum loop. I really liked the idea of using the sample itself to help tell a story. In the original sample, the line “I want to leave her” sounded to me like “I don’t want to leave Earth,” so I used this mishearing to further enrich the story. The other samples were also intentionally chosen to dig deeper into the narrative and add more meaning to it.

Samples Used
Poor Girl in Trouble was used as reflection piece for the protagonist. He was so young and dumb, but now it’s over, why should he worry about it.
Both Night and Day and Stop The Music were used as transitional sounds, to the next stage of his late life.
Upon entering the hospital the Give Up Your Guns Sample is used, which smoothly redirects into the outro section of this song.
Several Chops and Parts of The Way a Women Loves were combined and layered for the final sections of this song.
Lyrics
Verse 1:
And I wake up from this fascinating dream
seams like I reached the 100 year mark
but listening to my rusty clock
tik tok, tik tok
what a shock
barely working
wrinkles converting my face
into an mountainous place
misplaced most of my hair
whats left is only snow
shortsighted pair
trapped in glasses
flashes of my youth
and a hurting tooth
100 years passed so fast
what i believe now is now the past,
and I feel every year in my chest
I know I will be next
Death surrounds everys step i take
too many candles on my cake
the reaper will pull the brake
which will make my back break
Hook:
In the end it doesn’t matter
what is left in 100 years
Maybe a thought, maybe a letter
so why should you care?
I know my time is limited
so please don’t waste it
and please don’t fake it
Looking back I see how I was
Verse 2:
went through many seasons like the Simpsons
Aint gonna lie saw
so many things
everything that life brings
passion and pain
both ingrained
in my brain
on the same lane
like love and hate
I know it’s getting late
but hear me out
I don’t want to shout
don’t be too proud
I see my own fate
light taken over by shade
hit like a grenade’s shrapnell
gonna tell you how i fell, not well
brought me out of my grove
my body won’t be forever
like the victims of the vesuv
search for something that does truelly matter
It isn’t all lametta
sometimes it getting worse
before it’s getting better
sometimes hard times
truelly feel like a curse
often times precious dimes
are crafted under the highest pressure
you appreciate every pleasure
you can put it on a meassure
if you went through bad weather
Hook:
In the end it doesn’t matter
what is left in 100 years
Maybe a thought, maybe a letter
so why should you care?
I know my time is limited
so please don’t waste it
and please don’t fake it
Looking back I see how I was
Verse 3
Let me invite you to my own museum
spectacular like the colloseum
come in look and see
envyied by DaVinci
I ain’t gonna you give the key
but you can be my guest
guess I’m showing you around
do you hear this magnificent sound
reminisence of my own existence
mirrored in paintings in golden frames
wouldn’t it be a shame if it all went to flames
essentially my souls essence
shouldn’t be kept in a vault, no chance
to my own defense
my own museum is often too dense
hence it’s hard to find the best exhibit
some were disposed on a pit
and suddenly they come back
making me feel like a kid
I’m truelly rich
with all of these beautiful things
looking at some of my old paintings
I see damn!
Hook alternative:
In the end it doesn’t matter
what is left in 100 years
Maybe a thought, maybe a letter
so why should you care?
I know my time is limited
so please don’t waste it
and please don’t fake it
Just be the perfect you
no need to change it
Interlude/Bridge:
my heart hurts
chest burns
stomach turns
Vers 4:
One after the other
gone are many brothers,
others are close to
finding their eternal place
in an restless race
what was my last phrase?,
Can’t remember I am high on pills
between heaven and earth
drugged out on every nerve
guess it could be worse
locked to my bed to get
to my final destination
the holly nation
My mind is mixing future
with the past and present
presence barely noticable
but I hear the sorounding
listened to everything
how my children would bring
flowers among other things
kinda feeling like some kings
Ain’t just ready to spread my wings
but when the father calls
I will be flying
not trying to resist
by forcing me into a place
I shouldn’t be
I will gladly follow him over sea
will I be truelly free
or will I be eternal like an old ancient tree
soul being recast, reborn
into another form
what is you what is me?
Just some thoughts from an drug induced mind
and I’m wondering how long I have to be in this state
before I will only be a shade
throwing away my former shape
And going to the city that was made for our own
will I meet the one wearing his thorn crown
I just hope my medical bill won’t break my families neck
as I basically do nothing only lay on my back
and I really hope I didn’t rub too many shoulders
especially got rougher when I got older
But all this reflecting and disecting,
will lead to nothing
the time to act long gone
drawn out
why is is this damn beeping so loud?
I wonder what my next thought gonna be?
my next thought gonna be?
my next thought
gonna be?
Interlude 2/Bridge 2:
I don’t wanna leave earth,
but I have to
I don’t wanna die
God is calling my time is over
My beloved world, I didn’t know it would end so fast
always thought I would be last
conquering my past
live forever and ever
starting new endeavours
Everybody could see it,
my clock has stopped working
Need to listen to god’s calling, need to listen to god’s calling, need to listen to god’s calling…
Verse 5:
Dear Family
when you find this note
i entered the boat
i left this crust
and flew with the dust
you must trust
That I always aimed
to be close to an Saint
I know I might be deceived
by my own greed
and other sins
things special to my breed
as a human beeing
seeing things differentiated
created an vibe more freeing
my hands turned to stone
my heart is already cold
traveling into another zone
won’t we all die alone
ah sorry
the old men is on the phone
he is calling me into his home
waiting there with coffee and tea
saying pls son, what do you regret?
Yeah!
I was young and dumb
but wouldn’t change a thing
everthing I met
made everything I am
I can only say I regret when I did less
let opertunities slip, instead of taking it head on
but in the end who cares I’m already gone
and if you see this
be sure I’m fine
I saw jesus
he greeted me from a cross
the street, plus
Joseph and Maria
drinking Sangria,
you should see her
dancin with no care
gabriel flying through the air
time to get another pair
of those holy holy shots, lots and lots
see you when you join us
I know we have many things to discuss
but be sure to live
as long as you are alive
